Hi,
I am Libra Mons and I am a stippling artist. Greatly influenced by nature and landscape views I create monochrome illustrations to show the beauty of our most precious planet.
I started to draw in around October 2019 inspired by my 8-year-old daughter and I loved it since.
Why Libra Mons?
When I started to draw I was wondering if I should use my real name or an artist name. After some thinking I really wanted this to be something new, something completely different and separate from what I did in past. My family, friends and people who know me know that I have a history in photography, design, web development and all sort of things and I think I wanted it to be some kind of surprise or little shock. So I came up with Libra Mons. I didn’t tell anybody about it for a while. When my portfolio started to grow a little I mentioned it to a few friends and they were surprised.
The first word Libra is pretty straight forward that’s my star sign and the second word Mons is Latin for the mountain.
I love stargazing and all about space exploration and the universe. I was always a fan of Moon and Mars and I always dreamed to go to one of them. I don’t think I’ll be able to achieve that dream now in my lifetime but never say never haha. The highest mountain in our solar system is Olympus Mons on Mars. I’m not sure if that’s the case now, but it was at the time.
So I called myself Libra Mons :)
The art technique I use to create my art is called stippling.
Stippling is one of the six drawing techniques where several dots in monochrome colours such as brown or black are used to create an artwork.
A very similar art technique to stippling is pointillism - is an art technique where various coloured dots and applying knowledge of colour theory are used to create an image.
